Finally, the party of the century

In the end, about 30 kids showed up. (A bit more than expected, other years we've been able to have the party in the house because very few kids actually came). We...decorated crownsdanced

put out a dragon's fire
ate cake (and decorated cupcakes, but i dont have a pic)
slew a dragon,
and captured his treasure.
then of course we washed off the grime, and passed out!
most importantly, i think the kids had a lot of fun!

She's 4!

She has been talking about this day forever, we have been singing Happy Birthday and having pretend birthday parties. She cried when it was her dad's bday, because it wasnt hers. Last week she insisted that it wasnt my birthday, but hers we had to celebrate...and of course today, Sophia could care less that it's finally the real day! Stinker. We decided to have a family get together today, and the big bash (as you can see on the invite) is on Saturday. The weather is finally hot and there are no longer any construction workers on the balconey, so we went out and got a patio set and a bbq and had the party on the balconey. It's getting so hot, that it looks like we will be out there permanently until we leave for the States.
Max deflowers his virgin bbq!

Blowin out the bday candle (yeah i know there, is only one , but its a big one!)

San Giacomo B-days

This weekend we went to the San Giacomo house to celebrate the 3 birthdays (Irene (Max's mom), Sophia and mine). And we were supposed to celebrate Irene's 80th birthday with her friends on Sunday with a big lunch. There was prosciutto and melon, lots of salamis, hams and cheese from Tuscany. And then Irene made polenta and cinghiale (boar). Molto buono! But....Irene didnt tell anyone it was her birthday and the party ended being for Sophia. (I was kind of mad about that because she didnt even tell us that the party was not for her...Max thinks she doesnt want people to know her age, she should just lie like we do in the Ng family).

...But we know the truth. We gave her a matching purse and shawl. Every one did a little something for the present. I crocheted, Sophia decorated the wrapping paper and card and Max wrote the card. (Sophia is wearing a hooded beach towel the her Auntie Paola and Uncle Ale gave her)

After lunch Max and I went for a walk. San Giacomo is beautiful at every season. In spring there are beautiful flowers that carpet the hills...which i always pillage and plunder from the wild and bring home to shove in tiny Ikea vase in our tiny sad apt. Here they will stay until the wilt and eventually start to rot and the smell is so awful that I will have no other choice than to finally get rid of them. Just so I can pretend to bring some of that wild beauty back into our crampy little Milanese home. But they arent wilted and smelly yet, so I am still enjoying them (well except for the pollen and petals that keep falling off).

(the pictures are quite annoying to upload and then trying to place them where you want them to go is all together another frustration....sorry)

It's Sophia's Bday

Woke up too friggin early (as usual) and made crepes with chocolate inside for my 2 year old little girl!

Today was Gaia's birthday too. Went to school with a cake and crowns for the special girls.

Tanti auguri a te,
Tanti auguri a te,

Tanti auguri Sophiaaaaaaaa,
Tanti auguri a te!!!

Sophia had a great time and even blew out the candles!

Went to meet Sophia's best friend Martina for some gelato (as if she didnt eat enought junk food already)

Martina gave Sophia a cool Noah's arc puzzle and a cute little sun dress.

Sophia gave Martina a great big kiss!

I think Sophia had a pretty nice day!
