Christmas Show

This year was a the teachers put on a little Christmas show with puppets for the kids. They actually started on time this year, and i arrived late on purpose because i hate waiting at the front gate crowded with people smoking (yes i still smoke but i dont like waiting in the chimney in front of the school). By the time i got there it was almost over, but i did manage to take a pic.

Mamma Mia, Here We Go AGAIN!

OMG, this is soooo never-ending! Just when we think Sophia is all better, it starts all over again. Its never been as bad as that first day, but I seriously really absolutely, cannot stand to clean up anymore squishy-leaky diapers or the dribble trails! This is HORRIFIC! BTW did we choose the wrong time ever to start the toilet training! And again, I repeat, why does this ALWAYS happen when Max isnt home????

Christmas Lunch

Make a postcard - it's easy!

Today was the annual Christmas Lunch at ML and F's digs. This year thing ML and F changed things up a bit, and everyone brought 1 dish, which was great because it meant less work for the host, but more to eat for everyone! The first round was, sliced cold cuts (prociutto crudo, coppa, salame, etc and cheeses (dont know all the names) with pepper jelly or honey and warmed toasted bread. I was already full. The next round was lasagne with peas, which Sophia just loved! Third round was a veal roast with a walnut cream sauce (made by pino and her peanut gallery nanu) and mushrooms stuffed with couscous with a parlsey creamed cheese sauce (massimona) that followed by finocchio (fennell) smothered in a carrot cream nutmeg sauce (sabri and jonathan) and our oven baked eggplant parmigiana. dessert was a past sfoglia crust, pear, chocolate and walnut torta (sabri and jonathan). all accompanied by wine the whole time. ps note to self, next year dont sit next to nanni, he doesnt like to pass the wine and food! good thing i dont mind the boarding house reach as my mom calls it!

Why is karma kicking me when i'm down?

was it the comment last night? here is how things stand: slept on sofa because max was up every hour running to the bathroom. got up because sophia was up, found max extra extra sick now and had to go to pharmacy to get imodium...8:45 am, on bike, freezing cold outside. we 2 pharmacies near our house withing walking distance, of which one is ALWAYS opened, but of course was not opened when i got there. it's weird here, pharmacies have regular store hours and then for off hours the pharmacies rotate which will be opened. the one near us is ALWAYS the one on rotation thats opened the most...except today! instead the one FARTHEST from our house was opened. got back on the bike, had to ask 10 people for directions, back track back past hour house, down thru a scary tunnel, up a steep hill and past a gang of grumpy old men and finally found the pharmacy. then we had a dinner to day...or so i thought. i got totally mixed up, thinking it was dinner instead of lunch today at the f and ml's house. it's always lunch, what the f' was i thinking?? i called nanu and pino to see if sophia and i could hitch a ride at 11, when i realized my mistake on the time. so i went into frantic mode, wrapped the presents, made gift tags, cooked the parmigiana (the eggplants had to be cut egg washed, breaded and cooked in the oven first), took a shower, repackaged the jewelry (was hoping ml and p would take some to work to try and sell), max got the diaper bag ready, bell rang, took out parmigiana, got jacket on sophia, loaded car (with 4 bags), ripped car seat out of car, put the seat in nanni's car, stepped in dog crap, cleaned off the crap, ran the keys back upstairs, dragged sophia to the car and strapped her in...WHEW! 12.30 on the dot!

now max has it

well despite the fact that max announced that i couldnt have the virus the other day (because he was snoring when i woke up and ran to the bathroom the whole night) and perhaps that was the reason he didnt get up and get me the imodium, guess who 'doesnt have the virus' now....now thats karma for ya.

And Now Pink Eye???

Max took Sophia to the Drs to make sure she was okay, since she has had the runs for 3 days. The Dr said she is fine, and now is just at the tail end...and then i noticed her eyes were a bit goopy sometime today, but i thought maybe it was just because she had been congested recently. or perhaps i should say i had hoped it was that. but in reality it's pink eye, that she probably either picked up from the drs office or more likely from the fact that she kept touching the poop that dribbled down her leg, and we just didnt wash her hands well enough. i hate december its just one long series of illnesses and trying to get christmas shopping done in between them.

Nasty little virus

well sophia is back home with the runs again. she came home on tuesday with a nasty little virus, no fever, just bad tummy ache and squirts. its been horrific having to clean up after her because it doesnt stay in the diapers, not to mention we are exhausted because she wakes up crying in the middle of the night a lot crying from the pain. yeahhh just in time for the holidays. thanks santa clause! no jewelry today because i need to make a run to the store and my hands are all cut up from trying to get things done in time for the holidays. instead today i took the top layer of skin off my hands while trying to use the hot glue gun.
