All By Herselllllllllffffffff!
Well the little Miss always asks us if she can stay home by herself. Today we let her do it. We had to run to the store to do some shopping (we live next door to the grocery store). I have been teaching Sophia to call Max with the house phone, just in case of emergency, she can open the door by herself (which believe me is trickier than making a phone call, cuz all the the knob is heavy and turns backwards)-so we let her. She couldnt wait until we left, then she watched us leave from the window and then did who knows what (called all her friends? partied?). We werent gone for more than 10-15 minutes m, but when we got back, she was more than happy and proud of herself that she stayed all by herself. we're pretty proud too. i doubt that we will do that too many times, but at least we know she can do it if need be.

here comes the sun...
finally it stopped raining!! we took sophia to school by bike today, then it was off to see about preschool inscriptions. the state preschools here go for birth to 2 and then after that 3-5 and then at 6 kids start kindergarten. that means sophia switches school after this summer. we are in search of a new school. i think i mentioned before that the one she is in gets divided, and she has the possibility to go there, but it is old and so are the teachers and it seems just like a kid parking for working parents. it is really close, just a 5 minute walk, but thats the only advantage. we went to another school in the center last week and then another today. we didnt actually go in, but we did see the school on the internet and apparently its one of the most requested schools. max really likes the program, so hopefully we will be able to sign her up tomorrow. its a 10 minute bike ride, so its gonna suck in the middle of winter and the heat of summer, but hopefully it will be worth it!
we also went to an agency to look at some new houses that are being built down the street. the real estate guy was busy so we made an appointment for tomorrow. fingers crossed.
almost finished with the poncho. its giving me carpal tunnel (or however you spell it). my wrists and forearms and shoulder ache, so im giving it a bit of a rest. will take a picture when i finish. hopefully there will be enough yarn.
saw this site called metalworks.org. they have some awesome bling on there. i cant figure out how they do the weaving techniques. ive been looking on the net for tutorials, books anything but i havent found anything so far. for now im just twisting and bending on my own, trying to figure it all out. its not like knitting, where you can look anything up and figure it out on the internet. metal working and wire wrapping just doesnt have as much info available yet...but here's what i did today:
i cant figure out where to go from here...

The day after Thanksgiving
It's the day after Thanksgiving. Finished American Gods while preparing dinner for tomorrow (we are celebrating 2 days late due to Max's work schedule). Awesome book. Sophia has been really good about asking to go to the toilet (except when there are cartoons on, she forgets). Glad we bought those plastic covered cloth diapers a while back when I thought that I would not contribute to global warming with regular diapers (that only lasted until her poops were still little). I think those help a lot, I've been using last years Little Swimmers too because they dont really hold in the pee, but enough not to have puddles everywhere. Sophia's been a funny girl lately, every time she gets in trouble she calls Grandma (the American one), back when we were in the US and her Daddy was still in Italy, she used to call him when she got in trouble with Grandma. My how the tables have turned.

She did it!
Even though she already pooped in her diaper, Sophia said she had to go to the bathroom and she actually peed a little in the toilet! Hooray. So Willie you can stop making bets where if you lose you will have to change her diapers...

Na Na Na Na Hey Heyyyy Good Bye

Addio Ciuccio, we said good-bye forever to you! Today was Sophia's first full day without a pacifier!! We've been telling her for the last couple of days that on Weds the we werent going to use the ciuccio any more. This morning at school we announced it to the teachers too. And after school we went for an ice cream to celebrate not having used the ciuccio all day. Today Criss stopped by for an impromptu visit and ended up staying for dinner too. After that we did a goodbye pacifier ceremony, we stuck it in a little bag and hung it in the tree for the Ciuccio Fairy to collect (yes, just like the tooth fairy..didnt you know there is a Ciuccio Fairy too? Too bad there wasn't a thumb fairy, I would have had a hard time playing video games, but at least I wouldnt have had buck teeth and braces!!). The Ciuccio fairy came by and took the pacifier away and in its place brought Sophia presents for being such a good girl!! Criss, her Daddy and Sophia played with the new grocery shopping basket and food until it was time to go to bed. So far she got out once, but Max put her back in and then sat by the door (noooooo eye contact!) for a few minutes and either she went to sleep or is just laying there quietly, but 15 minutes have passed and she still hasnt come out yet. Keep your fingers crossed!
